Volker Serth was admitted to the bar in Germany in 1991 and has been a certified specialist lawyer for labor and employment law (Fachanwalt für Arbeitsrecht) since 1995. He is head of the employment law practice group at FPS and has extensive experience in advising a​nd representing domestic and foreign corporate clients in all matters of individual and collective labor law.

Volker Serth advises corporate clients in the following aspects of individual labor law (excerpt):

• design and negotiation of terms and conditions for employment agreements
• introduction and change of remuneration systems
• employment aspects of corporate restructurings and reorganizations,
• redundancies and cost-cutting measures
• termination agreements
• (preparatory) assessment of and representation in termination issues

His expertise in collective labor law comprises, amongst others, negotiations with works councils and trade unions and their legal advisers on all matters of co-determination, in particular settlements of conflicting interests and social plans, corporate restructurings and reorganizations, redundancies and cost-cutting measures.

Volker Serth advises corporate clients on how to handle issues with works councils. He is also experienced in negotiating collective agreements. In connection with Mergers and Acquisitions, Volker Serth performs due diligence checks regarding the labor and employment law aspects of each respective case.
