Fifty years of dictatorship in former East Germany have given rise to many different legal issues. The Berlin office of FPS specializes in such cases. In particular, we represent clients in the remaining cases involving restitution of real property or valuable artwork, or compensation for assets lost during the Nazi and GDR eras. The firm also works on solution to problems created by the use of real property that was typical of former East Germany (so-called rectification of unjust use of real property). Our attorneys represent both claimants and defendants in court and other proceedings, and have longstanding contacts with the responsible German authorities.
