New maintenance hangar for Condor: FPS advises on a key project at Frankfurt Airport

The commercial law firm FPS is advising Condor Technik GmbH on the construction of a new maintenance hangar in Cargo City Süd at Frankfurt Airport. With this project, Condor Technik is expanding its maintenance capacity at its home base and laying the infrastructural foundations for the further expansion of its A330neo fleet.

The lightweight hangar, measuring around 6,400 square metres, is being built as a temporary maintenance solution and will accommodate one Airbus A330neo long-haul aircraft or two aircraft from the Airbus A320 family simultaneously. In addition to the parking bays, the facility also includes the necessary maintenance, logistics and service areas. Completion is scheduled for early 2027.

With this new building, Condor Technik will, for the first time, have its own A330neo maintenance capabilities at its Frankfurt site. The new infrastructure will allow for greater flexibility in maintenance and strengthen the company’s in-house technical expertise.

Condor, based in Frankfurt am Main, is a German holiday airline and operates an international route network with a focus on medium- and long-haul tourist connections. Technical support for the fleet is provided, amongst others, by the subsidiary Condor Technik GmbH.

FPS is providing Condor Technik with comprehensive support on this infrastructure project in all matters relating to public law and planning law – from the early planning phase through the approval procedures to implementation in accordance with planning regulations.

“The construction of a new maintenance hangar in the immediate vicinity of the airport combines classic building law issues with specific requirements under aviation law. It is precisely this interface that makes such projects challenging and, at the same time, particularly interesting,” says Dr Olaf Dziallas, partner at FPS.

The mandate is being led by Managing Partner Stephan Jüngst and Partner Dr Olaf Dziallas. The team also included Jonas Friedrich and Dominik Hagelstein, with Alexandra Bohn acting as project manager.
