What does a truly positive working relationship feel like? Julia Reinke works as a legal assistant at FPS. In this interview, she offers a personal insight into her day-to-day work and discusses the skills that really matter in her profession. An authentic glimpse behind the scenes that shows what makes working at FPS so special.

What makes FPS special?

On a personal level, it’s a great fit for me. I get on well with my managers and there’s a strong sense of trust. I appreciate the freedom that enables a pleasant and successful working relationship.

Which tasks particularly fascinate you?

I particularly value projects where I can take on a lot of personal responsibility and tackle new challenges. For me, this also includes good organisation of processes, as well as regular communication and close collaboration with my colleagues.

What soft skills do legal assistants need to be successful?

In my view, good self-management and a structured approach to work are particularly important. You should be able to organise yourself well, keep track of everything at all times – especially deadlines – and also be resilient and communicative.

How would you describe working with the lawyers?

I find the collaboration very pleasant. It is based on trust, takes place on an equal footing and gives me the opportunity to take on personal responsibility. I particularly value the personal interaction, as we can openly discuss matters at any time.

What skills have you been able to develop since joining the company?

Since joining, I have particularly been able to further develop my ability to work independently. In addition, I have improved my communication skills and have continuously refined my structured approach to work and my self-management.

How do you unwind after a day at the office?

I unwind after a day at the office by teaching yoga classes myself, spending plenty of time in nature, keeping active, reading and clearing my head.
