Jonas Puchelt specialises in advising on technological issues. His main area of consultation is IT and data protection law with a special focus on IT project business, legally compliant use of artificial intelligence and legal appraisal of data breaches. Puchelt supervises complex IT (outsourcing) projects, both on the provider and customer side. As a result, he is very familiar with the interests and usual negotiating positions and options of the parties involved. On the customer side, he supports private clients or advises on contract-law aspects in public procurement tendering procedures.

His focus with regard to advising public clients is on the drafting and negotiation of EVB-IT contracts. Puchelt has extensive legal expertise as well as the required technical understanding to provide legal support in the preparation of concise service descriptions and the combination of different EVB-IT contract types. This makes it possible to produce even multi-layered procurement procedures for public clients in a legally compliant manner. Furthermore, he is heavily involved in the implementation of regulatory requirements for IT outsourcing in the financial sector (e.g. MaRisk, EBA guidelines, DORA). In this area, he drafts and negotiates both new and existing contracts for regulated companies from the financial sector or affected IT providers.

Puchelt creates strategies for the implementation of compliance requirements (e.g. relating to AI or data governance) together with his clients and trains them on artificial intelligence, data protection and cybersecurity. Furthermore, he is a lecturer on the subject of ‘Law for Computer Scientists’ at the University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen.
