FPS launches Corporate/M&A practice in Munich

Commercial law firm FPS is expanding its Munich offering, having appointed experienced transactions lawyer Dr Claus Elfring as an equity partner. He joins from PwC Legal

Elfring will establish the Corporate/M&A practice in Munich with immediate effect. He has advised national and international companies and private equity funds on complex M&A transactions and joint ventures for around 25 years. He also advises on corporate law, particularly in relation to restructuring.

After working at two major international law firms, Elfring joined EY Law as an equity partner in 2010. He led its Transaction Law practice in Germany for several years and later headed its Munich office. He then joined PwC Legal in Munich as an equity partner.

His experience spans the automotive, retail and consumer products sectors, as well as real estate and insurance. His long-standing clients include PUMA, Rohde & Schwarz and the ZBI Group.

‘Dr Claus Elfring brings more than two decades of experience in high-level transactions. With him on board, we are systematically expanding our corporate and M&A practice in Munich and strengthening our presence in one of Germany’s most important business centres,” says Florian Wiesner, managing partner at FPS.

“For our clients, the full-service approach of an independent law firm such as FPS means: a dedicated team, short lines of communication and swift decision-making. I am very much looking forward to continuing to drive the Corporate/M&A practice forward from Munich together with my colleagues,” adds Dr Claus Elfring.

For Dr Thomas Schnülle-Weingart, an equity partner in the Corporate/M&A practice, this appointment represents a significant step in the strategic development of the practice. “His expertise in complex domestic and cross-border transactions specifically strengthens our advisory services to listed groups, large family-owned businesses and institutional investors. Alongside Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin, FPS will now also have a Corporate/M&A presence in Munich.”

Since opening its Munich office in 2024, FPS has pursued a sustained growth strategy. Elfring’s appointment is part of this effort to build transaction capabilities in all key German markets and provide clients with comprehensive domestic and international advice from a single source.
